Dr David Hunt - Local History from a Balloon.

Dr David Hunt the curator of South Ribble Museum in Leyland made a very welcome return to CHAS to treat us to unfamiliar views of once familiar subjects. Using the vast photographic archive of the Aerofilms Collection he was able to remind us of the incredible industrial past as he showed us aerial views of long demolished mills around the area. Seeing our landscape from the air also revealed the agricultural methods from centuries ago. Many are still visible today in land boundaries and buildings. David’s detailed knowledge our lost mills and the people involved with them gave us a fascinating and informative evening.

Co-operative History in Chorley and District on Facebook

John Harrison now hosts a Facebook page entitled
“Co-operative History in Chorley and District”.
The page will enable the sharing of photographs and discussions about the history of the various co-operative societies that have operated in our area over the past 170 and more years. This page is an adjunct of John’s normal Facebook page, and he is still learning how to use it! However, if you have any difficulty accessing the page, or want to offer John any useful advice, please email him at cejeharrison@btinternet.com
