Visit to Hadrian's Wall and Vindolanda. Sun 13 Aug 2006

 

Thanks to Wigan Archaeological Society inviting us to share a coach with them we had a fascinating outing to Hadrian's Wall and Vindolanda.  Our first call was to the Milecastle at Cawfields.

Next we called at Vindolanda, an area of several forts over the years and also a scene of much activity as extensive excavations have been ongoing for many years.
One of our members, Julie, was one of the volunteer workers on the site. She had just started her second week of excavations.
